Schule macht Schule - Musisches Gymnasium's Nepal Project
The role of the Musisches Gymnasium in the continuation of the Nepal project has become more and more established since our first visit in 2008 and so we have given the endeavour a formal basis with founding of the society "Schule macht Schule - the Musisches Gymnasium's Nepal Project"
Location and field of operation
The society is based in 5020 Salzburg and its activities extend across Austria and Nepal.
Aims
The society, whose activities are not for profit, works for the sustainable financial and non-material support of the Shree
Jharkot Traditional Medical Center School and to prepare the children for continued education according to their talent and the unique local Tibetan culture and traditions.
The white building is the school in Jharkot, a traditional mud building; the red building beyond is the Gompa (temple of the Buddhist monastery)
A fundamental objective is the contact maintained between the Musisches Gymnasium and the school in Jharkot:
The students of the Musisches Gymnasium can experience the possibility and significance of taking on global responsibility; both the pupils in Jharkot and at the Musisches Gymnasium come to appreciate and foster cultural diversity and different ways of life.
How we pursue these aims
For years the students of the Musisches Gymnasium and the Jharkot school have been exchanging letters and we coordinate volunteers to work at the Jharkot school, both within and beyond the environment of the Musisches Gymnasium. You can find a selection of reports under Experiences >>

People from both connected with and beyond the school help with sponsorship, regular and occasional donations: How can I help? >>
Members of the society visit the project at regular intervals and examine not just the financial management, but also the pedagogic approach to the children.
Travel costs are borne personally by the travellers.
